I went scrounging on Friday, anxious to find a “dig”. However, in these days in between holidays sales grow thin. The challenge presented, I must double my efforts to find where history is hiding. This gem was found in Amawalk NY and though the house was new the owners were paring down the family history some. The only piece of paper was this odd first day cover “over print” celebrating the liberation of the Philippines from the Japanese. Interesting note as each of the 5 post offices were returned to regular service the US printing and engraving office released these to signify their opening. This one Cebu was liberated july 21st, 1945. #found #history #philippines #wwii #philately #firstdaycover #ephemera #estatesale #amawalkny #urbanarcheology
